OVERVIEW
Uluwatu
Uluwatu occupies the southwestern tip of Bali's Bukit Peninsula, where towering limestone cliffs plunge into the Indian Ocean. This is Bali at its most dramatic -- ancient temples balance on cliff edges, world-class waves break against reef-lined shores, and sunsets are nothing short of extraordinary. The iconic Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple, one of Bali's six key directional temples, perches 70 metres above the sea, guarded by troops of grey macaques. As the sun sets behind the temple, traditional Kecak fire dances unfold on a clifftop stage -- one of Bali's most unforgettable cultural experiences. Below the cliffs, legendary surf breaks like Uluwatu, Padang Padang, and Bingin attract surfers from around the world.
Uluwatu offers Bali's most dramatic scenery, world-class surfing, stunning clifftop resorts, and the island's most atmospheric temple experience. The Kecak dance at sunset is unmissable, and the emerging dining and beach club scene rivals Seminyak. It is also home to some of Bali's finest luxury resorts.
