OVERVIEW
Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida is the largest of the three Nusa Islands (Penida, Lembongan, and Ceningan) lying southeast of Bali. While its neighbours have developed steadily, Penida retains a wild, untamed character that makes it one of Indonesia's most thrilling day trips or overnight adventures. The island's dramatic coastline features towering limestone cliffs, hidden coves, and rock formations that have made it an Instagram phenomenon -- Kelingking Beach's T-Rex shaped cliff, Broken Beach's natural archway, and Angel's Billabong's infinity-edge tidal pool are among the most photographed spots in Indonesia. Beneath the surface, Nusa Penida is equally spectacular. The waters around the island are a marine sanctuary, home to giant oceanic manta rays, mola mola (ocean sunfish), and vibrant coral reefs.
Nusa Penida offers the most dramatic coastal scenery accessible from Bali. The manta ray snorkeling alone is worth the trip, and the island's clifftop viewpoints are genuinely breathtaking. It provides a raw, adventurous contrast to Bali's polished tourism experience.
